My word of the year, and why you should have one too

I'm such a sucker for new beginnings. There's just something about having a clean new slate that makes me go crazy with happiness and excitement.

In my last post, I shared with you how at the beginning of each new year, I like to use scripting to manifest the life I envision for myself. Scripting is a powerful Law of Attraction tool in which you write the future as if it had already happened. This is one of the most powerful Law of Attraction tool that I know of. no joke

But there's one other thing that I like to do at the beginning of a new year and that is to pick a word to focus my energy on – a word of the year.

A word of the year is a world that resonates with you and that you choose to focus on, to live by, to journal about, to apply in your decisions and to reflect on all year long.

I started this little tradition a few years ago and I just love how having one word to describe what I wish to bring into my life helps me to have vision, and to stay true to my goals all year long.

Choose one world that resonates with you. I really doesn’t have to make sense to anybody else, because let's face it, we're all at different points on our journey, and we're all going through different experiences.

This word you choose must describe a general theme you wish to bring into your life as it will follow you through the year and will act as a compass that guides your decisions and your steps all year long.

For example, in 2016, I started to notice that I had all this creative energy inside me that I wasn't using in any way. I had no outlet to let it shine.

That is why, in 2017, I decided to make 'create' my word of the year.

Now, a year later, I can clearly see how this choice of word influenced my life. Throughout the whole year, I decided to actively integrate the word ‘create’ in my day-to-day life. I started by taking drawing and painting classes, then I created this blog which allows me to express myself in a creative way (waaaay more than I expected) and I also decided to become creative with my body and made yoga and hula hooping a bigger part of my routine. I took it even further and tried to apply this word on to different aspects of my life such as whenever I was in a conflict, instead of acting as I would usually do (ignore and run), I would try to be creative and find a different solution.

I have decided to make 2018 a year about embodiment

Today, it's time to choose a new word, and for 2018, I've decided to go with 'embody'.

Why ? Because I feel that over the past 4-ish years,  I have been learning a lot, especially when it comes to my spiritual path. Over those years, I have learned, experienced and grown. But this year, I want to go even further, put it all together and create something that is empowering and inspiring to myself and to others. I want to embody everything that I’ve learned and make it part of myself, experience it as a whole on a deeper level. By choosing the word embody, I wish to integrate my learnings on a deeper level and as a result step into my power.

So, I have decided to make 2018 a year about embodiment

How about you ?
